Socket has a strange, almost alien sort of intelligence that
can make its actions difficult to predict or control. At its most
human, however, it is remarkably childlike--motivated almost entirely
by curiosity and a (somewhat slanted) sense of "fun." It enjoys being
impressive and usually saves its crueler pranks for humans, which
it does not quite think of as real creatures, rather than for other esks--
with whom it can in fact be quite friendly.

the boundary
Socket's boundary is a high-altitude coniferous forest,
bordered on one side by a hiking trail. It is a large and sprawling
boundary covering a diverse expanse of forest including
streams, caves, and glades, and contains a number of abandoned,
crumbling settler cabins in the deepest pockets--
some known to hikers, and some still undiscovered.

about the size of a wild rabbit.

Whitetail Deer (enchanted):
A Whitetail buck inflicted with a rotting appearance that can shift
in location around his body. If the flesh is sagging away from his
skull, the eye socket may glow with a sickly fungal luminescence.
Additionally, plants around the buck's feet shrivel and wither,
and occasionally fungus and mold sprout in his steps. Socket rides
either perched among the deer's antlers, or occasionally inside
its exposed ribcage, mech style.

cat update
inner ear infection + ruptured eardrum. i have been in that exact situation and had the exact symptoms she is having now, surprise surprise. vet's opinion was get her on abx and pain meds (and we had to do a shot and liquid respectively so thank you again for the donations it was ludicrously expensive) and check in a week but I have been given enough gabapentin to get her in a very mellow state before they come back if we decide she's still in too much suffering at the end of that week. I am emotionally prepared for this as an outcome but she's faked me out so much I can't help hoping that she'll do it again. I also had to go out and buy an extra litter box + stuff so she can be confined to my room so she can't get near the stairs. Going to pick up her gabapentin now, hopefully it'll make her a little more comfortable going into tonight. Thank you again.
